Noisy speedo

What about the plastic gear in the speedo? Is it a steady tick tick? Or does it happen like once a mile?

Update:

I removed the instrument panel and proceeded to open up the speedo. After opening and verifying nothing was broke. I used some very light oil on some of the nylon gears and wiped away any excess with a Q-tip. I then attempted to get the light oil into the back where the cable hooks by placing a drop and spinning it back/forth (several times. As for the cable itself I used some Teflon spray I have. Comes in a can with a shaker ball. Used this stuff in the service as well around radiation equipment and liquid oxygen devices/bottles.

You have graduated from journeyman fixer 2nd class to Master Mechanic 4th class, now what the hell you using oil on plastic gears? Use light plastic protective *garage door gearbox grease* or even your own wiper motor gearbox has factory plastic gear grease. Typical oils are petroleum products like the plastic gears themselves, WD-40 is especially bad at killing plastic.
