Re: A New Heart For Miss Zora
Congrats, Paige! I'm so proud of you and hopefully I'll be just as proud of myself here in about another month (I'm on a hybrid timeline of Westy78 and poptop tom for engine rebuilds!).

How far you've come and learned so much.
You have earned the right to feel mighty good about yourself.
Good for you.

Congrats! Have you done the ring break in yet? Do it soon before you drive it a lot.

Nice job Paige! Yes, break in those rings before driving it anymore. You don't want to glaze the cylinders and have low compression.

Congratulations!! I can only imagine the sense of accomplishment you must feel...this thread inspires me to take on my own rebuild. I just so happen to have a spare 2.0 sitting around... :)

Re: A New Heart For Miss Zora
Thank you! It does feel great. I still have some work to do though.
So, I could not get the side nut off of the transmission where you can check the fluid level. Aside from taking it into a VW shop, who could do a sneaky peek in there?

Re: A New Heart For Miss Zora
Find a nice low-traffic boulevard, accelerate with some verve from 25 to 40 in 3rd gear and let it slow back down, still in 3rd, for five times. Then just a nice easy bit of steady driving at 30 in 3rd for a mile, then 5 more repetitions from 25-45. Best to change the oil after, so do the ring break-in just before your 100 mile oil change.Westy78 wrote:Nice job Paige! Yes, break in those rings before driving it anymore.
