42 years, in over my head. Better than bored I guess.
And thanks to all of you of course.

If you could, would you own a small shop and restore VW's such as this?

Like if Colin could own a brick and mortar shop, would he do VW's and Porsche?
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue, I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew. And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod, The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Yes! That garage back there has birthed many a project. I like it in there. The only thing slowing me down is finances.

Gladys is gone! First time out in the weather since '96. As Neil would say, "long may you run".

And I am done. Time to find a new project.

It did...
The most heartbreaking was seeing my first Beetle get towed away to new owners, a very tired '66 with horrible floor pans and a billion miles on the rest. But it was still sad to see it go. Way back in '93, that's a long time ago.
Gladys is going to good people, and I've instilled the notion of classic vehicle value appreciation. She will get good care.
Today was really the first time I've seen it fully assembled and ready, outside of the close confines of my tiny garage. It looked eager to get on with it.
All I've got to say is - it takes a village to help an idiot mechannicckkk. Thanks guys, a ton.
The true test of friendship will be to see who shows up during my NEXT project.....man it's gonna be like an empty cave around here....

"HI! It's me again."
"Uh, oh, hi! Colin."
"BOB HERE?"
"Uh, no, no, he had to go ... do an errand."
"Just wanted to see if he needed any HELP."
"Oh, he always appreciates it, no really."
"Well, let him know I stopped BY."
"Sure Colin, thanks, you know, he could call you if he needs any help."
"Man, I thought he'd be here, I just called about ten minutes ago."
"Yeah, he had to do an errand."
"Bob? What are you doing under the table?"

Yeah, AS IF. You're scattered to the 4 winds. OH, wait you mean when your senile. (when) Well, just replace "Colin" in the above story with "Bob" and we're pretty much equal.

Nice work, very sharp car. Where's the front emblem?
Ludwig--1974 Westfalia, 2.0L (GD035193), Solex 34PDSIT-2/3 carburetors.
Gertie--1971 Squareback, 1600cc with Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection from a '72 (E brain).

Funny of all things I have, I have an emblem for a Squareback.
