Old guy first post

Post by troyintahoe » Sun Jan 30, 2011 8:26 pm

I have a 71 Squareback I am working on. I live near Lake Tahoe/ Reno. I found this forum and thought I would post up. It's a little smaller than Samba. I kinda like that.

Looking for nice 68bumpers near me, white sun visors, exterior mirriors. I'll try and post a pic of my square now, and hello to all. Troy

I would be the hippest person in my town in that ACVW! Very nice!
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue, I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew. And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod, The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

That is a pretty car, but why the earlier bumpers?
You get used to decent bumpers . . . :flower:

Sweet. There's a square languishing inactive on the street at my work front. Making me crazy. Newer than '71 I think, it has vents on the very back window pillars.

Vents in D-pillar means 1971, 72, or 73, correct. Of these three, 1971 is the odd duck. A original '71 will have a horn ring (not a big plastic horn plate), and the middle windows will probably be popouts. (Of course, as you know, the 3rd digit of the VIN gives it all away, but where's the fun in that?)

You should get it!

lol, kaboshed by a saner head. So no square for me. Struggling to keep ghia and bus running, and the baja still sits sheesh, like a decade now.

I was excited when my co-worker expressed interest, so put a note on the dash. The owner gave me a call. The squareback is loved and he hopes to have it up and running daily driver soon. Looking forward to seeing it tool up and down the street.

Gonna put a second note on it, as he didn't leave me a number to call, expressing my joy and inviting him down to the lab and of course, the IAC. Unless he's already here. Jeff?
