Hi folks- I brought this car to life and now it needs a good home where it will be properly cared for.

I've driven this car to work and on a daily basis, so I know it's reliable. Let me know if you're interested as I'd like to see someone who is into VWs and knows them to end up with this fun car.

Other than the tail pipes, I hope you get your asking price to the penny.

The exhaust came with that engine. Previous engine had miles of endplay and was leaking oil badly (and that engine's stock muffler is now on the '72). This swapped engine still has a functional thermostat, oddly enough. Should have put on a proper muffler while the engine was on the cart...

I've been driving the car quite a bit and I think I like it. I calculated 34 MPG with the 30/31 carb and used engine; not too shabby and it gets lots of looks.

If you come back through Indiana, stop by again, Colin. You weren't able to take it down the road as it had no engine at your last visit.

Ann wants a car like that, but she won't actually buy one.
She's all talk, no Beetle.

thanks, folks. the funny thing about this car; it gets a lot of attention and people ask if it's for sale, so I tell them to get their check book out. I tell them the asking price of $4500 and they automatically seem uninterested. I don't consider this an unfair asking price by any means. I've seen other, similar cars for comarable prices listed online. It's not like it is eating anything, so I'm not going to be hurt by keeping it.

of course if anyone wanted to trade me a bay bus...

$4500 for a car with solid pans and channels would be a fair price down here. When we were looking for a beetle there were some really beat up ones in that asking range.

this car was a pan-off restoration that seems to be done properly as far as I can tell. I'm not a convertible expert. It sure is nice to fold the top down, put on my favorite hat (to contain long hair) and head down the road!

($19 per month for insurance is another perk)

Edit: the car is gone now- thanks to all who expressed interest.
