Brought that home today. It's a 68 with a 2180 build, dual Brosol 40/44's, crap interior, crap paint (looks good from a distance), and it is a complete blast to drive!

Need to get the proper sized oil cooler lines on there, replace the seats since the hardware sucks. But it's still gonna be fun.

Looks fun! Other than, maybe, when belt tension adjustment day comes around... :)

There's enough space to work. I checked... ;)

I'm kind of wondering though... What's the point of having the cage around the engine SO much bigger than it needs to be? Am I missing some purpose?

It's a Baja, who cares about paint? Go drive around in the woods pushing brush aside for a few days, get it scratched up good & proper-like. LOL

That's not a cage, that's your rear bumper. Maybe having it that much larger allows for a bit of crush zone before the engine itself takes a hit. Or maybe it's so there's room for a Corvair or Subaru flat-6 in there. :cyclopsani:

I've been fantasizing about shoehorning a 2.3T Saab engine at 260hp into a bus lately. BWAHAHAHAHAHA

When you do sand dunes, you dip into a blind spot on the way down. Then, when the BFA High Lift Dodge comes skidding down behind you, you have half a chance.

Or, that is actually the foot rail for all of your friends who can't fit inside. They can grab onto that chrome thingy all sprouting off the engine.

Or, that is the pre-installed tow push package when your oil cooler lines let go.

Or, that is the sand skiing rope attachment point.

Or not.

ROFL

Yeah, not only chrome tin crap, but a friggin CHROME 009! I have 2 SVDA's on the shelf right now, and the original distributor from the 64 (no idea if it's SVSA or SVDA haven't checked), but there's no vacuum tap for the distributor on the carbs. I'm gonna have to either drill one out myself, or take it to a shop to do. Haven't decided.

The SuperTrapp is off and on my bench. 2" slip fit. Going shopping!

That silent power. BWAHAHAHA Confirmed the oil leak at the remote oil filter line coming out of the pump. Lumpy cold idle, these carbs don't have chokes, and the distributor is an 009 so probably a combination of those.

My 1776 with Kads always had a lumpy idle at startup in the morning. Even in "warmer" weather. Even after ditching the 009 for a Vanagon WBX electronic distributor running with only the mechanical advance. Even after hooking up the vacuum advance on said WBX distributor.

That engine cage is crying out for a 911 engine.
