Itinerant Air-Cooled

I don't drive the '68 in winter and want to hook up a tender to the battery. Rather than deal with lifting the seat and using alligator clips to hook the tender to the battery I'm wondering it I hook the tender to the black generator wire if that would function the same way with easier acccess or will the voltage regulator keep the trickle from reaching the battery?

I think it's best to remove the battery from the car's system and charge it independently. But I am a worrysome old hen.
Has anyone used the solar trickle chargers? I wonder if they are worth a damn. It would come in use for long camp trips when you worry about such things.

I bought a standard to use as a daily a couple of years ago. Working on the body now. Had a little front end damage and some dings etc but overall a nice solid car. Funny thing is it has a GEX engine that is about 20 years old. I didn't realize it until I got home and started sorting through old receipts. I almost threw up but then rationalized if its lasted this long it must not be too bad an engine. Compression seems to be good, doesn't use oil

Did you, it pains me to ask, post a thread here on this acquisition, something I could read to get up to speed around here?

A twenty year-old GEX engine was from waaay back in the good ol' days when mediocrity meant "serviceable enough".

I don't recall. And yes memory is the first thing to go.

Hammie - I have one of the solar trickle chargers. Seems to work OK, I don't know that it makes enough juice to make a big difference over a camping trip though.

Maybe in the summer, when you don't need a charger of course.
