Cocaine...

Post by Adventurewagen » Tue Sep 26, 2006 1:53 pm

I'm sure everyones already up on this news. Me, I'm a bit slow but I thought I'd share anyway. Maybe I need some of this to keep me up to speed, or maybe my bus does :drunken:

Image

Here's one story on it:
http://abcnews.go.com/Health/story?id=2459718&page=1

Here's the official site:
http://drinkcocaine.com/

My Opinion:
I don't really care, but I can't figure out whether naming it cocaine was a brilliant marketing scheme or so over the top the drink will crash and burn like the high it gives you soon after the sugar and caffiene wears off. I almost wonder if I shouldn't buy a case of it before all the PC'ers get it pulled from the shelves just to have some as a party gag :cyclopsani:

When I saw it I thought immediately of this:

If you wanna hang out youve got to take her out; cocaine.
If you wanna get down, down on the ground; cocaine.
She dont lie, she dont lie, she dont lie; cocaine.

If you got bad news, you wanna kick them blues; cocaine.
When your day is done and you wanna run; cocaine.
She dont lie, she dont lie, she dont lie; cocaine.

If your thing is gone and you wanna ride on; cocaine.
Dont forget this fact, you cant get it back; cocaine.
She dont lie, she dont lie, she dont lie; cocaine.

She dont lie, she dont lie, she dont lie; cocaine.

First thing that came to my mind was the line "Drivin' that train, high on cocaine" from that Grateful Dead song . :cyclopsani:

As far as the product ... meh. I'll stick to my Big Ol' Can of Whoop Ass made by the fine folks at Jones Soda Co in Seattle. It's the only one I've found without a taste that makes me wanna vomit. :pukeleft: The name & artwork on the can is a great conversation piece too. :king:

Yep. Casey Jones. How about this one!

You take Sally and I'll take Sue
Their ain't no difference between the two
Cocaine, running all 'round my brain
Headin' down Scott, turnin' up Main
Looking for that girl that sells cocaine
Cocaine, runnin' all 'round my brain
Late last night about a quarter past four
Ladanyi come knockin' down my hotel room door
Where's the cocaine--
It's runnin' all 'round my brain
I was talking to my doctor down at the hospital
He said, "Son, it says here you're twenty-seven,
But that's impossible
Cocaine-- you look like you could be forty-five"
Now I'm losing touch with reality and I'm almost out of blow
It's such a fine line-- I hate to see it go
Cocaine, runnin' all 'round my brain

A much better version is by Dave Van Ronk, which predates Jackson Browne version by a decade or so.

Nicely done!

And to stay on topic, I won't be buying any of this. Although my youngest is a sucker for all of these so-called energy drinks. He usually tries them once then complains about the taste.

I was so thin and prosperious in those days of Hollywood Hills and acceptance of the lines of "Snow" ~~~ I sold a house and sucessfull business to get away from the Doom of addiction. I was a lucky one  Alot of my friends and Artists friends were not. I do not find this advertisment right~ or ~ wrong just thought prevoking and hopefully the key to understanding . We are best at what we were givin and treat our bodies well :flower:

Rent the movie "Blow" with Johnnie Depp, it is a true story and well done.
Even has a bus in it , but out of year possibble.

Traffic is also a good coke movie.

Then there's Snowblind by Styx.

Harmless and innocent you devil in white
You stole my will without a fight
You filled me with confidence, but you blinded my eyes
You tricked me with visions of paradise

It's interesting how the brain works, all chemical and electrical impulses and how we can manipulate it.

I'm disgusted with the amphetamine culture, people always sucking away at the starbucks ( or even dunkin donuts ) coffee or these energy drinks. I think we all think coffee is for adults and these energy drinks are a way to hook young people, at least that's what I've seen, that younger people are drinking this shit.

We are all working to much and taking it all to seriously.

Rebel.

This thread has gotten too crazy. Here I figured I'd start some debate on Political Correctness or ad campaigns and marketing techniques or maybe get a post on CEO's dragging the country down, but instead we've got every song listed that talks about cocaine ;)

Makes me start to wonder about you guys and what your really smoking :drunken:

Wait. You mean those guys are here too? I left that other site trying to get away from those hippie dippy mumbo jumbo, liberal weed smoking, jesus boot wearing, left wing wacko, free lovin' types, looking for people that take their life seriously.

My kindergarten teacher said I was too immature to move up to the first grade. I've been trying to catch up ever since. \:D/
