CoronaVirus President

Post by Amskeptic » Sun Apr 05, 2020 8:39 am

December 31: COVID virus outbreak reported in China
January 22: “And we have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.”
January 24: “It will all work out well.”
January 30: “We have it very well under control. We have very little problem in this country at this moment — five. And those people are all recuperating successfully.”
January 31: “Well, we pretty much shut it down coming in from China. We have a tremendous relationship with China, which is a very positive thing. Getting along with China, getting along with Russia, getting along with these countries.”
February 10: “Looks like by April, you know, in theory, when it gets a little warmer, it miraculously goes away,”
February 19: “I think the numbers are going to get progressively better as we go along.”
February 23: “very much under control,” and added: “We had 12, at one point. And now they’ve gotten very much better. Many of them are fully recovered.”
February 26: “We’re going down, not up. We’re going very substantially down, not up.”
February 27: “It’s going to disappear. One day — it’s like a miracle — it will disappear.”
February 28: “This [virus] is [the Democrats’] new hoax”
March 2: “We’re talking about a much smaller range”
March 4: “It’s very mild,”
March 7: “I’m not concerned at all.”
March 10: “It will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away.”
March 13 : Trump declares nationаl emergency

April 4, 2020
The models show hundreds of thousands of people are going to die. You know what I want to do? I want to come in way under the model. The professionals did the models, I was never involved in a model — at least this kind of a model. But, you know what, hundreds of thousands of people.

Possibly the most important decision Trump will have made in his otherwise sad tenure as President.
Which I submit was surprisingly proactive of him, given his penchant for dismissing versions of reality that are grounded in actual science.

And speaking of science, I'd like to share a link to some Youtube videos made by Dr. Duc C. Vuong, a bariatric surgeon who has taken it upon himself to 'splain COVID-19 so that Joe Schmuck can understand it. His forecast is sobering, but convincingly puts paid to the naysayers who claim COVID-19 is "just another flu" or some sort of conspiracy by <insert favorite subversive group here>.

If you can't see the difference between closing our borders to everyone all the time and reacting to the facts of an incoming pandemic, there's zero point in moving this conversation forward with you.

I've never registered a political affiliation, but the Internet advertising sleuths apparently determined I may lean Republican.

I've been getting a few spam political emails that I ignore, but this one caught my eye:

Donald Trump Jr. <editor@update.americanannouncement.com>

Newt Gingrich reached out TWICE.
Nikki Haley reached out TWICE.
Steve Scalise reached out TWICE.
Tom Emmer reached out TWICE.
Dan Crenshaw reached out TWICE.
Elise Stefanik reached out TWICE.
Sean Spicer reached out TWICE.
I emailed you AND texted you, Friend.

We’re in the fight of our lives and we still haven’t heard from you. Did you throw in the towel? Did you give up on my father?

We just fell short of the biggest fundraising deadline we’ve ever gone up against… by 206 contributions... and now the Radical Left has a major advantage over us.

I’m reaching out ONE LAST TIME because Steve Scalise and I managed to extend 500% matching for 12 more hours.

If you’re serious about supporting the President, this is officially your last chance to help..

So I thought I'd reply:

Jesus Christ. There is one thing Donald Trump can do to keep me from voting Democrat for the first time in my life (actually, I have voted Democrat, but it's rare enough that I thought it reasonable to take a little poetic license for effect).

Wear a fucking mask, asshole!
Truth is like poetry.
And most people fucking hate poetry.

The so called pros skewed the numbers from the get go...

First it was millions in the USA are going to die.

Now thousands...along with skewing the actual cause of death.

Fact is 99.6+ percent will get over it. You here that from the media at all?

I don't.

And for those who need it explained to them in a visual:

And that only goes to April. Now we have close to ten times as many deaths.

Fact is 99.6+ percent will get over it.

From the Worldometer web site (US cases as of today):
Total cases: 4,372,823

Cases which had an outcome:

4,170,202 (95%)
Recovered / Discharged

202,621 (5%)
Deaths
Here's the web site:

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

I don't know where your figure came from, but it sounds like it was deaths among the whole population. That's a misleading indicator. A more accurate reflection would be comparing deaths to the total number of people who actually caught the disease. That's the way probabilities are actually calculated. You don't compare the number of ski fatalities to the total population, but to the number of people who are skiers.

As for your comment about skewing the numbers, well, consider this: A blind guy is crossing the street and gets hit by an oncoming car speeding down the street. You may argue that if he hadn't been blind, he would have seen the car coming, so it was really his blindness that killed him and not the car. But that's not what the death certificate is going to read. Similarly, those who want to downplay the COVID-19 threat will point to all sorts of pre-existing conditions which left the victims vulnerable to the disease. But that doesn't alter the fact that they'd probably still be alive if it weren't for the virus.
