This morning when I heard of Chris Stevens death and three others, after reading about the assault on the Egyptian embassy, I thought oh boy this is a wave coming at us. I had to read up on Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens. The more I read the more I am impressed, to me he was the consummate American representative to the Middle East. Then I saw this video, and thought even more so we will certainly miss his representation, that we need more like him, and dread the consequences. I don't believe this was only in retaliation to some damn movie, and even if it was, our response to the world today was wrong. I agree with the Baltimore Sun when they said it should have sounded like this:
"The attack on our embassy in Libya was inexcusable and deplorable, and we mourn the loss of innocent life. The film that sparked the protests that led to this violence was produced by a private individual, and as a society, we protect individuals' right to free expression even when it is offensive. No matter how much we as a nation condemn the filmmaker's statements, we believe his right to make them is a cornerstone of democracy."
Ambassador Stevens made the video for the Libyan people.

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue, I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew. And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod, The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
