God Damn Thieves
We are staying at my wife's brother's house and we came home to find the loveable boxer killed and the house broken into/trashed. Looking for money/cash as the Masterbedroom was completely tossed. Now this house has window and door bars etc for security plus a six ft wall around it plus the dog is for noise. Damn shame they killed the dog as we were taking care of him as the bro-in-law was away.
Looks like they took nothing as we surprised them and they bolted when we came home.

That sucks Geoff. Where is this... Seattle? Glad you guys are ok!!!
The best navigators aren't sure where they're going until they get there. And then they're still not sure.

Re: God Damn Thieves
I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I might add, though, I knew only the name of the place until now ~ any chance you'll write a bit (maybe a few pix too) about what you're doing there? Sounds like a fascinating place to be and do.Bleyseng wrote:Seattle, no..we are back in Suriname working. Its tough to see a sweet fun dog killed for no reason.

Re: God Damn Thieves
We started a blog that's in my signature -http://bleysengaway.blogspot.com/
I'll update it regularly as long as internet connections hold up, as mostly I mooch from family/friends right now until I finish the house we have here. The economy is growing at a 5% rate so no recession here as the gold, oil and bauxite rush is still going strong. Rice exports are growing again with EU loans repairing the rice farms. Suriname rice is a premium rice along with banana exports growing again.
Posting on this site with pics hosted on other site is a pain to do from here so hence the blog.
Crime is getting more sophisticated here as now thieves wear masks, gloves etc learning from USA TV shows I hear. If you are at home when they break in 50% of the time they kill you . Obama has given a large "AID" package to help the local police and armies in the caribbean fight the new "gang" crime that is sweeping the area. We actually had CSI Paramaribo come and do fingerprint testing etc!
Rained some today but still no snow in the near future as it hit a cool 87F with a nice ocean passat blowing.

Re: God Damn Thieves
Sorry Bleyseng. That's awful. Even having someone rifle through your car and take CDs leaves you feeling violated. I would imagine that it's traumatizing to come home to find what you did. Poor pup.Bleyseng wrote:We started a blog that's in my signature -http://bleysengaway.blogspot.com/

I work for a college that teaches courses in Costa Rica and we had a very serious incident there (abduction/rape) a few months ago, which I hear is very common there now. The most disturbing trend is that these abductions almost always end in murder and have little to do with robbery. It's more about violence.
