Time to dial in Bert for the summer and I really need a new steering box. I've adjusted it and topped it off with new lube but it's just too worn and with my new (too tight) ball joints its pretty scary to drive down the freeway.
I'm looking for anything in pretty good condition and for somewhere around 30-50 bucks depending on the box. Mine has 500k+ miles on it so it's pretty much toast and I figure just about anything would be better.
I'm also looking for a new brake booster for my 71. If I can find a "working" used one for under 75 I'd take it, otherwise I'll have to pull mine and send it off to get fixed.
Thanks,
Evan

Tight ball joints?
Anybody see the recent article on Beetle ball joints in HOT VW's? The crush fit is too tight on most balljoints manufactured for VW's today. Can't remember whose shop talked about it, but the solution is to turn the crush area or interference fit area of the balljoint in a lathe before installation. The measur and remove a bit so the dimension is what is actually called for. HOT VW's is still a good source of tech info.

Jeez it's getting hard to find "bolt up" parts any more...everything seems unfinished or just plain wrong. Heck it's fooled me a couple times - the part was OK but I already jumped to the conclusion that it wasn't, based on past history.
