Re: 2 liter long block from Adrian...
Success! Adrian Rebuild Número Dos started immediately, and ran very well for the 20 minute break in period. It sounds very good. The video is probably pretty boring, but I wanted to capture it in case something went south.

Re: 2 liter long block from Adrian...
The oil that I drained out after the 20 minute run was considerably cleaner than that from Adrian's previous engine. There was no metallic glistening to this oil. I would attribute that to Adrian running this engine to test for leaks, and draining that oil out for shipping. There was a bit of oil in the engine that drained out as I was working on it on the engine stand. This motor has no drips whatsoever. I had some anxiety as to whether it would fire up after all the nonsense I had with the distributor gear. One thing, I've learned a bunch of good stuff on this entire fiasco...a lot of labor, but the engine is very familiar to me now. Thank you to everyone who has been helping me out along the way, as I have asked questions. It was really neat when this engine fired right up.

Congrats! I think you'll find that familiarity might be worth the hassle in the long run. Ok, well maybe not ALL the hassle……Jivermo wrote:One thing, I've learned a bunch of good stuff on this entire fiasco...a lot of labor, but the engine is very familiar to me now.

That picture of your oil drain pan is pure art.
The comparison to the first one is an eye-opener.
You should make that one your Christmas card to Adrian
