Worn shift rod cup.

Hi all,

Is this bad?



Seems I have a hole in the bottom of my cup! I'm bound and determined to find the ongoing problems I have shifting my bus into first gear. I took everything apart to clean it up and lube it up real good and I found the hole.

Is this a problem or is it no biggie?

I think it is a typical casting flaw. It is not wear that I can tell in your picture. Do you see shiny shifter ball wear in the cup there where the hole is? No, I dodn't think so. But if you look at the fore and aft sides of the cup, you will see minimal wear. There ain't nothing going on at this location that could possibly wear through the cup without your being unable to shift into any gear after several decades of trying.
