Re: All You CHT Gauge Drivers Report Here
Another Wisconsin CHT report on a fresh 2Ltr FI engine with new HAM heads...this weekend did a 200 mile round trip pulling a 4x8 alum trailer with the Honda Trail90 and a Yakima box full of stuff. For curiosity purposes, I stopped at the local Truck Depot to hop on the scale. Bus was 4020lbs and trailer was 550lbs. High CHT was 372 in 93* ambient temps running down the Mississippi River road. 18mpg's ave. Next time we can leave a few things at home though. The Trail90 came in handy to scoot down to the boat landing to cool off.

Re: All You CHT Gauge Drivers Report Here
I did. Got the exterior teflon coating too. Perhaps that is a contributor to the slightly cooler head temps...although there is nothing scientific here. Just reporting head temps during first real road trip during a brutally hot weekend in the north.

Re: All You CHT Gauge Drivers Report Here
Test show that the combustion chamber and exhaust port thermal coatings keep the head from soaking so much exhaust heat so the heat goes out the exhaust manifolds.

Re: All You CHT Gauge Drivers Report Here
That's pretty cool (lame pun intended). Did that include any hill climbing? I find that climbs are what really raise my head temperatures. And headwinds.

No hills here to speak of.... Next trip up is into the prairie headwinds of the western MN to Fargo. Will watch and report #'s.

Re: All You CHT Gauge Drivers Report Here
Stock FI. Today hit 405 to my surprise Into a very moderate headwind at 65-67 on interstate when had been running 370 tops for much of the summer/early fall. Today's temps were 45*. Something going on or meh, normal...?Carbs or FI?

Re: All You CHT Gauge Drivers Report Here
I’ve found only mild similarities between local weather and head temp readings. Last week was hot and muggy in Illinois at 375* max. This week was cold and drizzly upstate NY at 390* max. Both were 19-20mpg (stock Type 1.) Vermont greeted me with 380* max and 15mpg. So much for my 22mpg tank in Canada... (slower speed limits...)

Re: All You CHT Gauge Drivers Report Here
Headwinds can make a large difference in head temps, particularly when trying to maintain speeds in that range. If you think about it, a 10 mph headwind means your poor bus is actually trying to push against a 75 mph load, but all you see is it struggling to maintain 65 while all the interstate traffic is swarming around you giving you glaring deathstares because you are slowing them down In their pell-mell rush to Walmart.
Also consider that fuel formulations are switching to winter blends now, which may have an effect on head temps.

Re: All You CHT Gauge Drivers Report Here
Has anybody who stays in one state for a while noticed a rise or fall in head temps due to fuel formulation? I just realized my DD CHT ADD may just be... that..
