1969 T3 automatic in the garage.
My buddy picked this up for his wife to cruise to shows. It's an original So. Cal desert car.
The fuel injection was replaced with dual ICT's before it was purchased. Someone had purchased a brand new empi distributor with electronic ignition (oooh, aahhh) But I noticed the cap didn't fit correctly.
So far I have changed the fuel, lines, filter. Rebuilt the dual carbs, and bled the brakes. New plugs, wires, cap, points, rotor on a 009 I had laying around. She runs, drives nice, stops nice, and shifts "ok". First to second seem nice and smooth, but second to third seems to happen around 50 MPH. It's not street legal yet so this is neighborhood driving.
Oh yeah, and the wiring is a damn mess

Good! You deserve a mess, so does your buddy!bajaman72 wrote:an original So. Cal desert car.

Then maybe you'll stick to an Itinerant Air-Cooled appointment.
We do wiring.
We do "leaky vacuum modulator hoses causing too high of a 2/3 shift".

Re: 1969 T3 automatic in the garage.
Someday the funds will fall into place for a visit. Just not soon. Had to move, blah, blah, blah
Anywho - I found a hazard switch with the back half off and all the springs and and levers inside not where they belong. I'm going to take it to work and clean, re-assemble. Also a Brown Wire Hanging free from switch. I see one side on the flasher unit, following the wiring diagram I see it connects to he ground on the speedometer. Hopefully this will solve and fix the blinker issue. All else seems to be working great!

Small skinny computer zip ties are good for holding these switches together . . .bajaman72 wrote:Someday the funds will fall into place for a visit. Just not soon. Had to move, blah, blah, blah

69 Squareback automatics are awesome. Chase the gremlins out and you have a great daily driver.

Re: 1969 T3 automatic in the garage.
Work will resume tomorrow on this project. I tried the zip tie deal but it was still blowing fuses. Ordered and received a new Hazard switch and flasher relay. Hopefully this will fix the blinker problem. Also new linkage to replace the home brew system on the ICT's now.
In shipping are Door Panels, seat Covers, Carpet Kit, Rims, Chrome Trim, and a bunch more.

Re: 1969 T3 automatic in the garage.
+ goes to 49 (Blue Wire)
S goes to 49a (White wire)
Brown goes to 31
blue and red wire are for blinker lights but I do not have hooked up at the moment.
My blinker is still blowing a fuse and the new hazard switch seems to not do anything anymore. It used to light up before it would blow a fuse.
Am I missing something?

WHAT "+" goes to WHAT 49?
If you meant Emergency Flasher Switch "+" well . . . it goes to "+" on the relay with a blue wire.
White, all I get is a 49a to 49a.
31 goes to 31, the factory numbers seem to correspond between the switches nicely.
The relay should have a "KBL" blue/red wire to the turn indicator lamps in the gauge.
What are you using for a diagram?

Yes, I see that. The question was about 49. Come on. You wrote the + goes to 49. See what I'm asking?bajaman72 wrote:+ is on the Flasher Switch (Blue Wire) I am using the same diagram
Does the relay have a 49 and NOT A "+"??

The later ladder diagrams allow us to look inside components so we can see where's/what's what.bajaman72 wrote:The relay has 49, The hazard switch has a +
Have you ever contacted ISP West? You either have a relay you can use or a relay you cannot use.

Re: 1969 T3 automatic in the garage.
Relay came from AutoBone. This is the second one. First one we popped using wire instead of a fuse.

Re: 1969 T3 automatic in the garage.
On a side note. The owner came by and installed a dash pad smoking the wires coming off 58b from the headlight switch. Something else to fix. I'll post pics when I get home. I am hoping to get the new linkage installed today. He is getting pretty anxious to drive it.
