Re: 6th Annual Hambone Spr. Camp - August 10-17 2012
You don't owe rent. You paid the final months as a guarantee that you wouldn't leave owing and so you would have money to move. What she is doing is treating your prepaid final months rent as a deposit and that is very illegal. If you take her to court she will owe you 3 times the amount of your total due. Stand up for your rights and don't pay the final months rent twice.DjEep wrote:I didn't owe rent this month, since I paid first and last when I moved in, and put in my thirty days two weeks ago, but the LL wants the rent with the last month to be returned later....
On Topic:
I'll be there Saturday afternoon - Monday. I finally got a job and I start on Wednesday so I am definitely going to camp because it may be my last chance for a while. Gonna go fishing first so hopefully we can have a trout feast on Saturday night!
You gotta make it, Tony. I really enjoyed meeting you at last time you showed up.

Re: 6th Annual Hambone Spr. Camp - August 10-17 2012
Always good times with these guys - thought it might just be me, hambone, and Eva there, but DJEep, Don, and Sluggo made for a fearsome gaggle. I had to leave pretty early this morning so I barely got much time to chat with Sluggo who showed up in the dark of night with a big smile on his face.
Hiked quite a pitch
drank icy cold water straight from a mountain spring
ate 10 alarm chili - although DJ said it was only three alarm chili
caught a glimpse of a few meteors and a gazillion stars
Great FUN -
Somehow, I got a nasty vapor lock on the way down the mountain. Bus probably stalled out 10 or more times on abbott and 58 then would take a bit of effort to get started again. Wasn't really sure what to do, but somehow when I got to hwy 57 it seemed to have cleared itself. Could have been a stuck float, fuel filter, or something else. Just really strange and might have been from high elevation or maybe not.

Habaneros rule.
Thanks for the photos. Truly don't give justice, even to the aggregate that makes up the road in spots.
Don't know that I'll make it up, even before Friday. Work has to come first, especially when it's contracted.

No habaneros... This was only 3-alarm chili. By the howls during consumption, I doubt the others could get within ten meters of my 5-alarm...

Boy that sounds great, the 5 alarm I mean. Great pictures too.DjEep wrote:No habaneros... This was only 3-alarm chili. By the howls during consumption, I doubt the others could get within ten meters of my 5-alarm...
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue, I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew. And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod, The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Re: 6th Annual Hambone Spr. Camp - August 10-17 2012
In other news, I missed the fork in 58 just south of high rock and took 58 all the way out to 42 then hwy26. quite the detour, but also quite a purdy drive. I pulled over in Gov't Camp and got the NF map, but even that's pretty confusing right around High Rock.
Still have a bottle of Hambone Spring's Finest in the freezer, too!

Same thing happened to me. After a mile or two I turned around because it didn't seem like I was dropping altitude much. I did notice the turn as I passed it but thought for sure I didn't have a turn on the way up. It would probably be a lot easier to find our way around if knuckleheads vandals wouldn't use the road signs as shotgun targets -

Yup, same inkling here, thought it was all uphill gettin' there, but noticed a buncha uphill on the way "down". Figured following the signs pointing me toward 26 was a safer bet than burning all my gas looking for the "right" way though, so did as I did. ![drunken :drunken:](./images/smilies/drunken_smilie.gif)

Re: 6th Annual Hambone Spr. Camp - August 10-17 2012
Just got back! Man what a trip. Thanks to all of you who made it! Those who didn't were very missed.
I think that was the most awesome weather, ever. High 70s/low 60s at night. Hardly any mosquitoes but the spiders were like crabs. Huge webs everywhere.
There is no place quite as high and lonesome as Hambone in the summer. It's like a way-station between dreams.
It sure is hot back here in town...

Barely shook the work off a bit yesterday, this morning picked up a mess of free flagstone to incorporate into the garden paths. I had my fingers crossed, but that darn adult part kept me on the work opportunity.
Glad it was a fantastic run.
