Bentley
Anyone have a spare Type3 Bentley out there that they'd like to part with?

Re: Bentley
Yeah not bad. It's looking like I'm gonna get it stabilized and get rid of it, just needs too much work for me to take on.
Anyone looking for a '72 squareback sanded to bare metal with surface rust? Gutted and supposedly ran 2 years ago. It may behoove me to at least get it sanded and primered.

Re: Bentley
Closer inspection seems to reveal 87k original miles...I'm going to see if it will start after a quick tuneup and draining the gas. Original factory muffler!

Re: Bentley
See that other thread, oh yes YOU'VE been THERE I see.
I did get a Bentley thru Amazon.
The car itself seems to have 87k miles but the engine is a replacement. Looks to be low miles on the bottomend, new heads and good compression (on #1 at least.) I'm starting to see the potential of the car.
The type3 section is the ghost town of the IAC. Almost as bad as Camping.

Re: Bentley
Now wait a goddarned minute!
My main interest in VW campers is their usefulness. I camp camp camp and have little interest in whatever makes them run. But until you guys show more interest in camping south of the Siskiyous, I remain, as always, your humble camping lurker too.

Re: Bentley
I'd love to get some of these guys camping at least down in the Trinity Alps, possibly as far south as the lower Russian River, but nobody seems too interested. It's like anything over 60 miles is too long a drive for camping unless it's the San Juan islands or something...static wrote: But until you guys show more interest in camping south of the Siskiyous

Re: Bentley
I can kinda see that anything over 150 miles out is pushing it for a weekend camping trip when you gotta work on Monday, but come on, folks!tristessa wrote:It's like anything over 60 miles is too long a drive for camping unless it's the San Juan islands or something...
To my esteemed friends in Oregon and Washington: Northern California has some cool stuff. Come and see!
Now then: a little rant about the bus scene around here: I understand "different strokes for different folks" and all, but I feel like I live in a big sea of VW campers but that few like to use them much (if at all) for actual camping.
Oh, but have a "show and shine" and they all come out of the woodwork. Phooey! /rant

Re: Bentley
I made it down to outside of Ashland, Ore a couple of weekends ago. Damn thats a long ass drive from Seattle and driving I5 with everyone having to pass and cut in front of the one damn camper on the road is a pain. My solution is to let Monique drive and I fall asleep in the back as she goes 75-80mph letting no one pass her. She complains that the westy doesn't get the best gas mileage! 16-17mpgstatic wrote:I can kinda see that anything over 150 miles out is pushing it for a weekend camping trip when you gotta work on Monday, but come on, folks!tristessa wrote:It's like anything over 60 miles is too long a drive for camping unless it's the San Juan islands or something...
