I can vouch for the new car smell .... couldn't believe it myself ... they used to sell that stuff in a bottle. :flower: The other thing that amazed me (although I guess it shouldn't have) is the car appeared more pristine than when I saw it last year... like...oh 20k-30k miles ago?

It's sick that as Colin puts more miles on the van, it arbitrarily returns closer and closer to its original state. That's just wrong.

Next time he's here I'm gonna think up something to set him back a little. The last one worked OK, but a complete can of Gum Out apparently can only strip so much paint. Hmmmm....

Actually, it's Gibsonia, PA. I don't know where Colin came up with that location (Gibsonville). In spite of himself, he made it here (Gibsonia) in fine fashion. We started the day plumbing the deep sink trap and things just got better from there.
The map is a nice idea, good job!

When looking at the list of dates at the front of this thread, can't help but think "wow, that's a busy summer" but then look at the map and you get a sense of how large an undertaking like this is. Kudos to you good sir, and I look forward to your visit in exactly one month from today.

Imagine being the exhaust valves in the BobD.
"Where we going?"
"Uh let's see, Montana."
"Where are we now?"
"That would be Iowa."
"Oh great, that's two million twenty five thousand four hundred more cycles and it's hot out, I quit."
"No, come on, you have already done one hundred thirty nine million two hundred seventy thousand cycles since Hamburg Germany back in May 1978."

Or are the exhaust valves the "Colin" of the engine... reveling in the heat while the rest of the engine parts prefer to stay somewhat cooler?

Remind those sassy valves that this year's Iowa-Montana leg has a welcome intermission in Idaho: 1,080 miles instead of 1,189! And I've moved 110 miles/2 hours closer to Des Moines! Huhn? Yeah?

Tentative yes, but not locked in.
Colin

Colin,

Just wanted to let you know that I have provided my deposit a couple weeks ago and have not seen our name on your list yet. I know that the date is still tentative and that's fine. I can see your trip is going well and we are looking forward to seeing you in the Columbia River Gorge. Missed you at the RendezVW.

Thanks

Keith and Jamie

Dang... me, Little Train & Shebus were just thinking of pooling funds to get you to Whitefish, MT for a day to give all our bays a quick once over so we know what we're dealing with. I saw you had a few days after Mitch, but now it looks like you don't. If those fall through or you're willing to shoot 5hrs north of Anaconda on the 5th let us know. Pullman ain't too bad from here via 90 or 2. Weather is supposed to be 80s and sunny with 0 humidity... not like I'm trying to tempt you or anything. Glacier National Park is only 20-30min east of us. Tempt. Tempt. Tempt.

Edit: Oh yeah.. dunno if you're a hockey fan, but the Stanley Cup will be in town the 5th as well. Tempt. Plus I work at the ski resort so could comp you an alpine slide ride, lunch & a scenic lift ride. Tempt.
