I buffed out the crappy black paint last night so atleast it looks nice from 10 feet..
I have to order a seal kit to replace nearly ALL the rubber seals..they are toast or missing....
Interior door panels/dash are falling apart so they are next..the rest of the interior will clean up.
turn signal lenses are on order....
For now its a city driver.....I have to pull the westy's engine again as the rear seal is leaking again...sh*t.

originally orange but the original owner had it painted black with a really crappy paint job. White top was installed too at that time, maybe late 70's..
This is a oneish owner car as a lady bought it new, then needed money in the late 70's and sold it to her mom who parked it then gave it to the other sister who parked it in her garage. That is who I bought it from with 122k miles on it....its not too bad other than I hate black cars!!!
Its going to have a paint job soon, Guards Red.

Beautiful car. Gonna love having you as her owner fer sure.
Can't wait to hear progress reports.
Willy is a good ol' boy that is an incredible painter/bodyman (from the jobs I've seen). As far from McBusiness as one can get.

Bookwus, IFBwax, Oregon72, and others round these parts speak very highly of him. I was bummed he didn't make it to Maupin. Last year he gave a bondo workshop. Very informative.
So it all started when I wanted to get better gas mileage....

Air Cooled Nut was over yesterday for a BBQ we had (they drove up from Portland_. Good guy and his wife and kids are a riot. we poked around the Ghia as I was getting his opinion..."There should be rust here, oh good there not!" So I was pleased, it needs alot of work but I have gotten lots of electrical sorted out and working except the horns and clock. I took the clock apart today and it the little internal fuse thingy. I'll solder it up and reinstall it as I love having a working clock. The PO was FAT and so sitting in the seats makes you feel like you are 6 years old driving this goofy car down the road..Monique can't even see as she has to look thru under the parked wipe blade...haha, I was laughing and crying when she was trying to drive. New seat pads and a total spring rebuild ASAP.
Oh yeah, I did take Toby for a quick ride up the street in the Westy so he could "experience" a Camper Special.. yup, the first words out of his mouth were " I want one!". too funny, plus he couldn't believe a bus motor would rev to 6000rpms..."Holy Sh*t"
