Sorry for the meandering emoticon laden posts! Lost in all of that was my original question: I have read or heard somewhere that the internals of the 1700 are a bit 'over engineered' or otherwise a bit more condusive to building higher HP/torque engines. I was just wondering if someone could school me on exactly what makes the 1700 internal structure unique form the other two type IV engine set ups. Jeesh....say what I mean and mean what I say. Maybe I need to turn my craker jack diploma back in. :geek:

Spiffy, I compared a Porsche GB case with an EA case and found that the EA case has a thicker casting between 3 and 4 cylinder opening. I'll keep checking and see if i see any other differences.
