What's it worth - dual carbs for t4

Post by airkooledchris » Tue May 14, 2013 9:53 pm

The motor I picked up recently came with a set of dual carbs. Someone pinged me via TS wanting to buy them but I don't know squat about carbs and what their potential worth is.

Im not trying to make maximum profit, I just want to charge a fair price so I can put those funds towards the parts needed to get my new bus on the road.

There's a whole album of pics at the above URL.

Here's a quick overview:

What's a fair price for them, given that I can't vouch for squat on them?

thanks for any advice and/or tomfoolery.

If you have the air cleaner assembly to go with em I'd say $250

I don't have the air cleaner assembly. The first offer I got said they usually sell for $75 to $150, so im thinking $100+ shipping would be fair - sound about right?

Those carbs should be about $50 ea. because they look complete with chokes, solenoids, gaskets, links, etc. Nothing less. I've seen carbs that are complete crap going for $25 or more. I bought an NOS PDSIT-3 carb once for $150. So $50 per is very reasonable for yours.

The manifolds are about $20 ea.

The fuel spider is probably $20

The crossbar and brackets should be about $30

The whole deal should be nothing less than $200. Clean up the carbs and make sure they are set to spec and you could ask $250-$300
