I'm game for headliner but I must warn you, it is not a pretty picture when you first start "disassembling":
This is a headliner which has suffered water damage from the poorly designed sunroof, sir. It is not pretty now. To expedite the process, would you like the glass to be removed?
I seem to recall keeping the rods in place might be a benefit.

and p.s. the engine that I rebuilt in 2007 for this bus consisting mainly of used/ refurbished parts is still running, so there's that.

Well, we cannot discuss nuts and bolts until we have a scheduled amount of time set aside. Yes to removal of the interior (the whole interior) and all glass but the tailgate and sliding door when the moment draws close.

You got it, chief.

Preferably indoors. Got indoors for your bus? With lights? Plenty of lights?

Yes to all of the above. None of my volkswagens sit outside. I’ll tell you the story of how the bus barn came to be. I’ll have to relearn how to post photos on here.

Last few years been rough but I’m back on top now.

As we know, this is at best a rough approximation of His Itinerancy's path, but what can you do. The highest spots are Lost Almost, then Wyoming up over Sherman Pass (highest point on I-80) and down the Gangplank. Have I ever mentioned the Gangplank? It looks like I have, back in 2015, quoting my favorite writer John McPhee. And I'm gonna do it again because it's so fascinating, such a good piece of writing, and the audience changes:
John McPhee, in 'Rising from the Plains', wrote:On the east flank of the Laramie Range is a piece of ground that somehow escaped exhumation. Actually contiguous with Miocene remains that extend far into Nebraska, it is the only place between Mexico and Canada where the surface that covered the mountains still reaches up to a summit. To the north and south of it, excavation has been deep and wide, and the mountain front is of formidable demeanor. Yet this one piece of the Great Plains--extremely narrow but still intact--extends like a finger and, as ever, touches the mountain core: the pink deroofed Precambrian granite, the top of the range. At this place, as nowhere else, you can step off the Great Plains directly onto a Rocky Mountain summit. It is known to geologists as the gangplank.
Anyway.

To Do or Not To Do?

Hey Colin,

Debating on whether to drop my engine prior to your arrival on the 7th.

On one hand, there may be an obstruction in the gas tank. No evidence in the filter but after she dies while driving her, a good rocking brings her back to life. Dislodging the obstruction?

If the engine is out when you arrive, we won't be able to experience the 3+ year intermittent hesitation early in our work day.

If I put it back in and we discover something that involves dropping the engine again - say, like I f***ked up something while I was futzing around - well, it's dropping the engine again and we may not discover the initial issue in our allotted time.

Paralyzed by too many choices!

Thoughts?

Hey there, Neighbor! I saw you're in Leucadia. I have an appointment scheduled with Colin tomorrow here in Encinitas. You don't happen to have the orange Westy with LEUC8IA plates do you?
