Colin, see above. :joker: It was a combination of grease on the plate, the non-spring disc, and a slack-ish bowden tube.

Amazingly, it started right up with the first turn of the key. However, the front brakes pull violently to the left so I have an appointment soon with my friendly local German auto service shop.

Let us know if it was the left side that has the horrid wheel cylinder leak and what the brand of the wheel cylinder is.
