Is there any chance for a trip to Athens, GA?? I'm new to the VW scene, but am chomping at the bit to dig in! A little lost as to where to start. The temps are most wonderful here and the leaves, they are a-changing. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks

Perhaps near Thanksgiving with a rain date or two nearby so we can hit some sunshine?

I tried to arrange a visit with Colin in Athens while I was there several years ago, but the funds were never available. JR, have you hooked up with the Athens VW Club. Find 'em on-line. The meet monthly at Loco's on Timothy and do a good number of events throughout the year, including several tech days. Tell 'em Jimbear sent ya!

Around Thanksgiving would work for me. I'm new to this so where do we go from here? Its a 71 transporter.
Thanks.

As for the VW Club of Athens, I tried sending them a message through their website a while back about getting involved. I haven't yet gotten a response so I'm just planning on going to their next outing at Loco's. Thanks for the advice.

JR, I'm sorry if I missed your email thru the Athens VW club website. We meet the third Sunday of each month at Loco's on Timothy Rd. at 3:00pm. We'd love to see you and your bus. I'm Jon and I run the club. We have several buses and are always open to more. Come to the next meeting or shoot me PM here if you like.

YES you can come. We would love to have you join us for an afternoon. I could use a day (week) with you, but my bus needs so many things I wouldn't know where to start.

Oh yeah! Athens is in the plans. I can't wait, or more appropriately, my bus can't wait. =D>

I have had VWs for years, but this is my first running driving bus. I need some educating.

When you reply to my PM, we will know just how deep the immersion is going to be.

WOW I was the last visit for 2011. What a great day! I have never met anyone who knows so much about VW buses....no not just buses, but VWs in general. I have had aircooled VWs for 32 years and I sure got an education today. It was great. Colin won't let you fake any VW knowledge. It was quiz after quiz. I did get some answers right.

I now know what my bus needs to make it right, plus we fixed many problems today. The biggest improvement was in the steering. I can now steer my bus rather than aiming and holding on.

Thanks for all the help and enlightenment Colin. I look forward to next year and another visit. :thumbright:

No mercy, but graciously so.

WOW sums it up, yep, yep.

Let me beat Sylvester to the punch and suggest more details and of course photos. New thread?

Regardless, it's always great to hear of another productive day. The immersion always leaves me gasping for air.
