Three of them in 2008 hit $50.00, top price was $57.35. Filled up here in Austin for $19.80 yesterday. . . 12.3 gallons.

Every 20 miles you drove, you'd have 2 more bucks in your pocket. You don't list miles covered, but I imagine it would be substantial.

I do; I got a job pumping gas in the summer of '73, and it hit 49.9 cents per Cdn gallon, which would be 39.9 per US gallon.
My brother and I went someplace in my Dad's huge Impala; it got really low on gas so when we went to the station we asked for ten bucks' worth, and the guy couldn't believe it. He thought we were joking, you couldn't possibly put ten bucks of gas in a car. But that thing had a 22 gallon tank so it took it.
Two years later I had a Mini Cooper and I could fill it up for two dollars.

See, now it is a joke on the other side of the continuum. $10.00 couldn't get my '62 Lincoln out of the driveway this summer. . . :colors:

I remember hitting the road in the summer of 82, I think gas was $1.25 gallon, everyone thought we were nuts to travel at those prices! :cyclopsani:
