A camping trip in Suriname

Post by Bleyseng » Tue Jan 11, 2011 7:13 am

We piled 10 of us into a minibus for a 3 hrs drive over mostly crappy bauxite roads to the end of the road on the Suriname River.

A 1 1/2hr dugout river upriver in a tropical rainstorm and we finally arrived

to see they had built some new cabins!
We woke up and cooked a fine meal before going on a hike in the jungle
Image
to swing from the vines
Image
and discover huge spiders
Image
and come back to swim
Image
and enjoy the place
Image
and the river

early the next morning with coffee and the sunrise.

Wow that is amazing and once in a lifetime! I am jealous and want to come visit with all my kin! Just kidding, nice shots.

I liked this one specifically, who is the girl?

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue, I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew. And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod, The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Ice cold coconuts are a great refreshing drink when its hot out for sure...How many you want?

The girls are nieces or Monique's daughter as all of them were visiting for the Holidays here.
