Kind of weird seeing IFBWax report on it: http://www.kptv.com/weather/24699754/detail.html

I hope everything's okay too. As near as I can tell, it's right about here:

Thanks for your concern gang. So far so good. The Oasis mentioned in the article is actually the BLM Oasis recreation site about 2 miles down river from us...they closed all camps in that area because of the helicopter activity. Several sizeable fires in the area, they have most contained. The biggest is in the lower canyon, and I've heard from BLM personnel that it has taken out a couple KEY steelhead campsites...drat, drat, double drat. There is a big fire about 10 miles out of Maupin that has us most worried...it is mostly on private land and the gov't agencies are focusing on the fires burning on government land...they've made it pretty clear where their priorities are. Not surprising. I'm hoping once they get their "own" fires out, they'll send all the bazillions of people they have here to make sure the private land fires don't hit Maupin. Scary shit when you look out the window of your house and see plumes of smoke. We've been planning our evac in case it becomes necessary...we have our fingers crossed. This cooling trend this week was right on schedule as far as the fires are concerned, and the winds are oddly behaving themselves the last couple of days. A good rain WITHOUT lightnening is what we need...don't see that happening though...storms this time of year are usually accompanied by lightening. Thanks again, and Bob I appreciate the offer.

Funny, my wife asked last night what I had in mind if we have to evacuate. I said I'd quickly make sure all the buses started...she laughed and said "funny you'd mention the buses first!" I said, "Marni, do you know how much crap we can fit into those???" She then lightened up a bit and we talked about people to call for help, hose/sprinkler locations, etc. I hate fires, unless they are in a fire pit surrounded by half (sometimes fully) lit musicians :geek: . I'll let you know if anything changes. Thanks again, Mark

So happy you checked in Mark. Spent alot of time on Google Earth yesterday getting to know your terrain. I know all to well the danger of lightnin' strikes and the feeling of possible evacuation. Hope you don,t need your buses and think its cool you can add humor to your worrie.

Just get the hell out, if they tell ya too. Or stay and fight it, you got a pump in the river? Tough call for most.

Positive thoughts from me,
