South Western Alberta Swing *WARNING* Asstro content

A recent trip to Calgary allowed me a couple of extra days to wander around SW Alberta. Just me, The Asstro and my camera. Heaven!

Day 1. A perfect campsite.

Check out the welding job just forward of the sediment bowl. Somebody had some serious con rod problems at one point.

One thing Americans hate to hear is this:
Canada got the best Rockies.

On afternoon I saw a lot of these. Then, a few k's down the road, this:

Ever so slowly, they were all encouraged to move over that distant hill. Kinda gives one pause.:pale: I guess they had a good summer, grazing on all that Alberta grass.

Seeing this made me feel better.

All in all a most enjoyable three days. I found that, by cruising at 50 mph on all these backroads, I could get about 25mpusg. Pretty good for a 4.3 liter V6 with AC running. It was 30C most days.

Nice.
Your first few photos remind me of an old painting professor of mine's paintings (Keith Jacobshagen):

You mean, "Where were the campsites?"

Otherwise, behind the driver's seat. On the floor. With a foamy and an excellent sleeping bag.

So you just remove a the rear seats and use it for storage and sleeping space? I'm all about the pragmatic.

I'm all about the pragmatic, too. In my first Asstro, I built a bunk, but that got in the way of carrying motorcycles, plywood, stuff like that. Now, I just keep it a big, empty space. More flexible that way. I have three sets of seats in showroom condition sitting in my garage. :) Never use 'em.

You guys need to get up to BC. Not that it's any better than the US, it's just that you can never have too much beauty in your life.
