Due to scheduling, we will only be able to come up for Saturday and Sunday.

I was really looking forward to a side trip on Friday to Apple Hill with the fam but oh well.

Hi Regis, bummer about that, see you Saturday

I'm taking the day off from work and relaxing, going to take the slow road up to Placerville.

Joe, when do you plan on leaving? I'll join you on the drive up.

I'll be leaving tomorrow around 4:30 from Oakland. If anyone else is like me and has to stick around the bay area til late in the day, I'm open to a mini-caravan. If not, I'll see you all there!

Just after 7pm as I write. Just unloaded everything and slammed the kids into the bath. Grubsters to the max they are. Played hard. Caught fish. We ended up going to three places on Apple Hill. Earlier we had breakfast at Mel's. I'll post pic's tomorrow. It was a good time with good people.

Great meeting everyone again (and some for the first time).

Nice mellow campout, fun playing with the dogs, watching the kids run like rabbits, I even had fun recovering the chair (for various values of "fun".)

If only we had more of these wonderful slow weekends, full of stars, kind folks, new and old friends.

Friday, I headed out mid afternoon toward Antioch/Pittsburg so I could take Hwy 160 to Sacramento. I got passed by a bunch of these:

Some of them perilously close to the ground:
Image

I've written about hwy 160 on my blog before, it's got some great bridges:
Image

I arrived a little late, but woke up the next morning to a few other busses, and the company of Dick's Dog Sweety:
Image

These fine people:

Some others rolled in Saturday mid-day including this weird one:

Regis made it:

And Joe got ahold of my camera:

I got bored and recovered a seat, you know, in my spare time:

And left sunday mid-day with Brett following me:
Image

Brett and I went looking for VW antiques in Placerville, found none, did find an excellent Tri-tip BLT sandwich for lunch, and stumbled across this:
Image

Points to those who know what it is.

These happy people waved at me in while we were stuck in traffic outside of Vacaville.

I'll write up my fun carb experience later.

Excellent trip joe, thanks for organizing.

Next year?

OK, in fairness, my emblem clips were... not correctly put on, and I needed to redo the front, so the emblem begot the vw gang sign, which begot the dew rag, and so on and so forth.

But thanks for the picture. My wife will remind me "yup, married you by choice... <sigh>"
