I've been to only a couple, nice places. Developed camps tho. I prefer the "dispersed camping", unofficial spots deep in the woods. Less RV noise that way. Fun exploring too when yer waytheheck out there.

I've been to a couple of those spots.

Owald West - nice spot -especially if you like to surf (short sands). Beautiful trail from 101 to the campground then opens up to the Pacific Ocean.

Cape Perpetua - cool with the stream running past most all campsites.

Expect rain at both of these places unless you luck out.

Like hambone, I enjoy the dispersed vibe although I am very much a beginner. I'm pretty sure hambone could teach a course on this subject area.

After our Montana trip and plenty o' 'developed camps' I am looking to get into the back woods again.

Burnin' plastic, people cutting large tree branches down to clear the way for satelite TV reception, ATV's, generators, soft pellet wars, TP and poo without even a cursory effort to bury it, general disrespect for the environment...all very disheartening.

It's too bad the woodland creatures can't get a chance to cop a squat on the beds and kitchen tables of these folk.
So it all started when I wanted to get better gas mileage....

Being a gal camping alone with my kids (usually, Carl's not a big camper-type person), I tend not to stray too far out on our lonesomes, so I don't mind neighbors when we camp.
