It's weird, the company is based out of Germany but the parts are made in Italy. Good quality tho.

Hammie, I was looking at FR 37 and that it is not maintained but it looks like it at one time went up to the mineral springs (which are open now). We should take a long hike (it might be 10 miles round trip or so) and see if we can make it to the springs and back. Unless there be a huge mountain in between the two of course :cyclopsani:

A better map:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&g ... 4&t=p&z=14

Sounds good. I'll have Eva with me so I'll have to take it somewhat easier tho. I'll check my old maps for abandoned trails, but that area was pretty heavily logged.

Once you cross Canyon Creek the camp isn't much further down. I wouldn't mind scoping FS 37 for other camps for future use but it may be too tough to find us at nite.

Yeah, I was noticing that! Are you guys going to be up there this week? Or will you be coming in for sun-tues?

I have to check with Cheryle and see what our schedule holds. Maybe Saturday night, as I get off work at 5:30 pm and don't have to be at work until 12:30 Sunday. We did Portland this week, so I think will be there this next Monday, Tuesday. Anyone camping beyond Sunday?

I think Jasan, John and I will be there thru Sunday afternoon/late morning. Hammie has to come back on Saturday. About how far is it from Portland? That would be cool if you made an appearance on Saturday night :drunken:

Neal, it would be cool if you made it out Saturday night. We'll be there till Sunday. Still sorta up in the air as to how many I'll be bringing. Might just be me and Tetley, might just be the whole she-bang.

According to Google Maps it's 55 miles from my house to the campground.
Chorizo, it's what's for breakfast.

Keep it fresh in yer head, I'll be picking yer brain for some how to for this one :king:

Just have to pack the cooler before work tomorrow but besides that I am packed up. I'll cook some chili from scratch with some corn bread on top in the dutch for dinner on Friday. I would like to try to do a campout only using the dutch at some point, it makes the cooking experience so much more fun and tastier.

Gonna be hard to sit still at work......

Now stop that.

Looks like it'll work, woohoo!

I figure about a 90 minute drive from Portland, at least if take my normal route to Amboy (gotta pick up Cheryle) and then hit the campground.

From my just shy of the I-5 bridge into Vancouver location, Amboy is 43 miles, twisty enough to take close to an hour to drive, and then another 14.4 miles to campsite, I'll give it 30 minutes, bound to be a twistier slower stretch of miles.

So ETA would be say 8 pm. Adding a bit for last minutes. I'll bring the drum.

The 503 hits I-5 at Woodlawn? Probably quicker from Portland than heading north out of Battleground up to Amboy. It brushes Amboy just before Chalatchie.

See ya there,
