Me too my friend. More snow expected in the Clacky until Thursday, gonna be a cold few days.
Think LOW. You'll find something. What about the western end of Hoh? There won't be anybody out there. Or the Eastside of the Cascades, out in the desert. That would be pretty cool right now.

WHILE WEAK RIDGING PRODUCED SOME BRIEF CLEARING OVERNIGHT AND EARLY TUESDAY IN THE NORTHERN AND CENTRAL CASCADES AND OLYMPICS, ANOTHER DISTURBANCE ROTATING AROUND THE RECENTLY DOMINANT UPPER LOW SHOULD SPREAD LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW NORTHWARD ON TUESDAY, ALONG WITH SLIGHT WARMING AND INCREASING WINDS. FOLLOWING THIS DISTURBANCE, PERIODS OF LIGHT TO OCCASIONALLY MODERATE SNOW OR SNOW SHOWERS, UNUSUALLY LOW FREEZING LEVELS AND INTERMITTENTLY INCREASING WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO PERSIST INTO MID-LATE WEEK WHILE FURTHER DISTURBANCES EITHER ROTATE AROUND THE LOW OR MOVE SOUTHWARD OVER THE AREA IN A CONTINUING COOL NORTHWESTERLY FLOW ALOFT. ALONG WITH THE ONE TO THREE FEET OF SNOWFALL ALREADY RECEIVED IN MANY MOUNTAIN LOCATIONS SINCE THE LAST MAJOR WARMING IN MID-APRIL, THIS SHOULD RESULT IN ACCUMULATIONS OF AN ADDITIONAL FOOT OR MORE OF NEW SNOW THROUGH MID-WEEK. WHILE MOST RECENT AVALANCHE ACTIVITY HAS BEEN CONFINED TO LOOSE OR WET LOOSE SLIDE RELEASES, SOME RECENT SOFT SLAB SLIDES RANGING FROM 8 TO 12 INCHES UP TO 1 TO 2 FEET HAVE ALSO BEEN TRIGGERED BY SKIERS AND SNOWBOARDERS, WITH THE MAIN CONSEQUENCES TO DATE FORTUNATELY BEING CONFINED TO LOST EQUIPMENT.

You think we will have problems at less than 1000' elevation for the next few days? I don't want the Hammie Sense to be peggin towards maximum.

All packed up. Decided to head to Deception Pass on the first night and then up to the North Cascades, hopefully this will help with the crappier weather that is expected for tomorrow.
Got the dutch oven goodies ready to make some kick a** meals...can't wait to fire that thing up!

The glove was thrown down last night at the Lab by Jasan's friend. She was chiding about how surprised she was that we use propane and hibachi's for cookin'.
Somethin about using the fire. I smell a challenge. Maybe a campfire cookoff in the works.
So it all started when I wanted to get better gas mileage....

Funny you guys should mention the camp kitchens we seem to cart with us, this trip we did most of our meals in the dutch over the fire. We cooked up some nice beef stew and even coined an ad-hoc recipe: "Cascade chicken pot pie" wich is basically chicken soup with a thick layer of cornbread onn top.....$^#&* WAS IT GOOD!!!
Anywho, here is the down and dirty on our trip:
On the way up we stopped in to see the tulip fields (late bloom this year).
Then it was off to deception pass for a night where we pretty much had the campground to oursleves. Beautiful day, chicken 'n' potatoes in some tin foil cooked in the fire, good beer.....
And look out for a new member of the band...the Copilot has ventured into the harps
After the beautiful night on the island we stopped in to see the tulip fields one more time and then headed up to the North Cascades.....unbelievably beautiful place, we rolled in under the cover of thick clouds and rain but the drive was stunning.
The campground that we had planned on going to and was listed as open by the NPS website and a call in the ranger station ended up being closed when we drove up to it......WTF!!!!
So...we back tracked and found a sweeeeeet little free campsite right on Gorge Lake and we had the place to ourselves......fahget about it!!!!! It was amazing!
Had some rain on thursday and lake wobagashee set up underneath the bus so we had to divert the flood waters.
After the rain cleared we woke up to this on friday morning:
So we decided to bundle up and get out on the water....to hell with hypothermia!!!
Around the campsite a beaver had been busy.....REALLY BUSY...that little fart had chomped throw at least a dozen THICK trees...incredible.
We had a great time and the weather cooperated, them thar hills are nice!
