Second annual San Juan Islands trip.

Post by Westy78 » Fri Mar 28, 2008 6:02 pm

OK gang, the week of August 17th will be this years San Juan Islands tour. I'd like to hit San Juan island for a couple nights this year along with doing Lopez and Orcas again. Any other suggestions? Feel free to throw 'em out there.

Hopefully with five months advance notice more folks will be able to stay on a bit longer but of course any length of time you can do would be great.

Come on out and enjoy some island life!

Here's the details of last years trip for those who aren't in the know.

We can't commit at this point, seems as if a few family things and a possible move on our part along with all the other stuff may collide this summer. Right now I can't see past Maupin, well and my own nose. :geek:

I would like to make it again to see Orcas and San Juan Island. I would think that the weather would be even better in August.

It's up in the air for me too. Not sure when my Daughter will be leaving here for college or if I'll have the cabbage to swing the trip. I'll know more closer to the event...but I already had to pick my vacation time, which will be the last week in July/first week in August.
With gas prices the way they are, and sure to go UP in the summertime, this may be the season for local trips only. Which is still cool.
With my screwy work schedule I hope we can all still get together this summer. Or I actually get the hell out of this place.......What's the point of 3 days off if everybody else is working? :pale:

No problem fellas. Life happens and the finances are weighing heavy on me too. It's still on my calendar though so hopefully everything falls into place that allows you guys to make it. I've talked to Susan through email and I think she's planning on making it.

Hammy, once that engine is fired up be prepared for some serious camping around here! I'm seriously jonesing for some wilderness time. What's your schedule look like for June 19th-22nd? I know you said you were going to have to miss the RendeVW like I am so what about the following weekend? I'm off that whole week but will be at Diamond Lake for Father's Day weekend.

I have those days off! We should plan a shindig around those days. You should start a thread and pick a place. I'll betcha we'll still be elevation limited tho due to the heavy snowpack. Will you be back in the Portland area by then?
Cool!

I saw Andrew at a show last weekend and he was interested in coming to this event. Did he give you an email addy? Not sure if I still have it anywhere...

Nope, or if he did I don't know where it's at. I'm thinking I'm going to put in some reservations here pretty soon. Here's my thoughts on the nights stayed.

Sat-Sun nights on San Juan
Mon-Wed nights on Lopez
Thur-Fri nights on Orcas

Maybe stay at Deception Pass on the way home.

If you guys feel like noshing at a great place when you're on San Juan - try the Duck Soup Inn, it's fabulous!
