Oregon bus rentals?

Post by zabo » Sun Jul 24, 2016 6:35 am

Hey We are trying to plan a last minute vacation and thought it would be fun to rent a bus and do some camping in oregon/N california.
Does any body have any suggestions or experience with any of these companies that rent westys? Also any suggestions for camping spots would be great. Our only real destination is visiting a friend outside eugene

I remember someone on here rented one recently but i haven't found that thread yet.
Thanks

I found these places so far

i don't have any personal experience but peace vans seems to have a good thing going. that's the only one of these i recognized and they definitely maintain their own fleet, which is what i was suspicious of in that other thread you mention. again, no personal experience but maybe the most established.

as for camp spots, you'd have to narrow it down. i really liked summit lake, where we just had that bus campout. the forlorn lakes in the gifford pinchot NF are a go-to place with our family. we also stayed inthe cabins at opal creek this year which is not something you can really van camp, but it is a beautiful river, among the best oregon has to offer and has great swimming holes and natural waterslides.

we ended up renting from road trip Oregon. just got here today. the weather is a welcome break from ATLs high humidity and 95+ heat.

not sure abt the eurovan though ... modern vr6.
Heading over to eagle creek tonight then south and looping through to the coast.

If anybody has suggestions on campgrounds etc let me know.

Could try Whalen Island, just north of Pacific City, or can't think of the name but there is a large one on the north side of Tillimook Head. Great stretch of road south down to Florence or beyond. Quite a few campgrounds along the way too. Looks like you'll have good weather while you're here. Have fun.

If it looks like you'll wind up back in Portland at the end of your trip with some time to spare, drop a line here or in the Lucky Lab thread to wake up the locals for an outing .. with beer. We don't look down (much) on anyone for driving a Eurovan, even if it *isn't* a rental. :cyclopsani:

Have a good time regardless. If you get that far down on the coast, I had a good time at the Port of Siuslaw campground in Florence. Hookups (not that I needed them), showers, laundromat, and walking distance from everything in downtown. It's mostly big RV's crammed together, but we were only there for sleeping/eating/clothes-changing not hanging out...

liked your photo on teh 'stagrams, wondered if it was *our* lower punchbowl and here you are. not much camping on the coast tbh, but hebo mt is your best bet. south lake campground is good high up, hebo lake is bad crowded weird. you can camp on the beach at cape kiwanda and then nehalem bay below manzanita (basically just a huge parking lot on the beach)and then there is some camping south of reedsport.

Beautiful state you have there and a lot of vws!
Smith rocks blew me away.

the eurovan worked out well but was nowhere near as roomy or comfy as my adventurewagen. :)
