my bus is trapped in the garage at my dad's flip. they ripped all the driveway concrete out right in front of the garage and then stacked it in the driveway. not only that i'm still assembling/cleaning parts for the carb swap. also sliced my thumb flexor tendon and i haven't figured out how to get the flywheel bolts off the OG engine with one hand. so i'll be rockin the blue GL.

i'd love one! honestly, it's hard to see how you would get them off a shortblock sitting on a table even if you had two hands...

I strapped my motor to a long board/channel then I could stand on the bar and not flip the motor

I just have my kid sit on the engine. Can't imagine with 1-hand.
Hey Kirk you gonna make it? Still hoping to get out Wed.

From 1936. Hopefully there will still be some traces out there.

Back safe! Hal did you make it home? Thanks to you and Chachi for such a fun trip. A lovely camp too.
Never got above 55 deg. the whole time, mostly in the low 40s. And today is warm and lovely of course.
Did NOT find the Skyline Tr, lots and lots of partial cuts in the old growth hemlocks and cedars. It is hard to tell trails from skid roads. There are very old blazes heading up the hill out of camp towards the Skyline, not on any map, interestingly. And then clearcuts...
Would like to go north of there to see if we can find anything.

Made it home fine, by way of Mike Boell's place where we stuck my battery on charge for about 20 minutes .. though I probably would've been just fine without the extra juice. Tried a different voltage regulator when I got home, still no charge, so this morning I went across the street to O'Reilly's and picked up a reman alternator and new belt, threw those in and drove to work...

Cheap enough fix but I coulda used that $80 for something more fun.

BTW supposed to be in the 70s this coming weekend in the Clack. Kid will be out of town, maybe another camp? I don't know if I can handle it.
I'll tell ya it's a hard adjustment to be back in the City. Not all of me likes it. Also sorta hard seeing all that 500 year old forest so fragmented. It gets to ya.
If someone gets a wild hair I'd most likely go along.

Mid 70s this weekend in the Clackamas! Oh man...it is hard to justify not going. I would like to go back and give it one more shot and find that Skyline. Otherwise I'll have to admit the 1936 Alternate Route is dead.
Really have to finish Bus2 however...off to the fabric store for curtains. Looking for cheap green, wish me luck.
Camping, eh...I'm still mostly packed.

Got the fabric! 60s bright green at $3.50 a yard.
I have been studying the maps again, I think we were looking for the trail 1/4 mile too far west. But guess what, it soon disappears into a mile-long clearcut. It may be lost anyway. Just north of there it looks pretty bad too. Too bad.
Still may head out tomorrow, I haven't decided yet. Not sure if I'm ready for more time alone. But mid 70s!

Don't see any cuts, it burned pretty bad in the 20s. Skyline main route, not the alternate.
