Only a week away my friends! I'll be there all week, make some time to come out. Summer is 1/2 over...
Looks like Eva and Don will be there, maybe Sluggo. AND Don will be test-piloting Bus2, it's maiden camp no less. Ho. Maybe Erin too we'll see how that goes.
The directions on that map are a little off.
If you're coming from the Willamette Valley, do this:
OR 224 thru Estacada, past Ripplebrook.
LEFT on 57
Just BEFORE 57 turns to gravel -
LEFT on 58
Climb like a mofo to 4610 at High Rock.
LEFT on 4610, climb more (don't go RIGHT - this is 58 heading east)
look for Abbot Road sign on dirt road heading LEFT at crest of hill. Be very very careful on Abbot, steep narrow and rocky with a dramatic dropoff.

If you haven't been there before, it's very remote. The last couple miles are hair raising! Take it slow in 1st gear you'll be fine. Otherwise it's all paved roads. Keep going until you see the Abbot Rd. sign off to your left. You'll see.

Mebbe Linney next month? You are a busy bastard. HEY and give Wayne hell for me, it's been a really long time since he's been on one of our camps.
Haven't heard from Troy in a long time, hope HE is well out there in the world. He's made a few Hambones over the years, Plaza too. Hal, well you know, excuses a mile long. I say this with a smile you realize. I've given up on the rest of them.

For those of you still tuned into this B League broadcast of the STUMPTOWN CRAPPERPOTS: there may be a little leeway on the dates. we will be there for a week, just trying to figure exactly the day of departure.

I am getting pretty excited, this really is a highpoint of the year! I'm grateful it's coming together somehow.

Yeah or maybe even early September. With this weather fall camping should be pretty good.

Ok I changed the dates from Sat to Sun, 8 nights total! Will also have some Portland friends joining us on Wed in their Eurovan, close enough.
Bus2 is now fully insured, she will be making the maiden voyage with Don at the wheel. This is my 10th anniversary of Hambone camps BTW, every year. I never would have predicted a duplicate bus in 10 years...
I'm also glad this heat wave has finally broken, hope it will last a while.

Eight Nights! Someday you're just going to stay out there and become a legend of the woods. There will be stories of a bearded man wandering the woods living out of an overgrown VW Bus but never confirmed. Oh, the legend of Hambone.

By then it will be a suburb of Gresham, full of townhouses. I'll wander the laundrymats.
Even crazier, Eva will be out there with me, she's so excited! I'm lucky.

Weather forecast has changed a bit, low 60s for for the weekend then low 70s. Will it change again?????

I wish there was more info on Hambone history, or the other guard stations etc. Not much, not even photos. There must be a shoebox of old photos somewhere.
