Not sure about Hal now, his transmission is having troubles.
It will be in The Clackamas somewhere, depending on the snow level.

WHAR THIS IZ? WHAR?

I'll see what I can do. Hopefully I'll have movement in a positive direction on the car in my driveway that's turned into a bigger project than I was expecting. Going to Gaston tomorrow to get the replacement engine...

Late season snow will perhaps keep us low. Thinking about either Big Bottom or Cot Creek. This may morf into a trail work camp too, some of the trail guys are interested in sawing out an old trail around there.

Hal how did you get stuck building a car for someone? You have enough to do right now! Hopefully it's bringing in some extra cabbage.

No cabbage, helping family out -- it's my cousin Tasya's first car. She bought a '99 Legacy Outback last month that turned out to be in great shape EXCEPT FOR THE ENGINE because some idiot managed to strip one of the head bolt threads in the block, then wrapped a bunch of teflon tape around the bolt to hide it long enough to sell the car. I told her she should get her dad to chew out the seller in Russian so the guy can't pretend not to understand what's being said to him...

Got the new engine sitting in the Bus at the moment, need to find a cherry picker to do the R&R with. Suby engines come out the top, not the bottom like a VW.

Still, your time is exceedingly valuable...can you afford to do all this for free? This is major work for free. Even if you charge 1/4 of a shop everybody is getting something, you some cabbage, her a good running car for peanuts. And many more mixed metaphors. Imagine all your projects on the back burner. Plus you are a good mechanick.
10 cents, thank you.

With all this late season snow, we will have to camp down low. So it looks like Big Ass Camp:

The Big Bottom Option: Take 224 past Ripplebrook to FS46. 15 miles or so, turn right onto 4650 and cross a narrow bridge over the Clackamas. This bridge is just before the 4660 jct. It is new and very obvious. The railing has a big dent from a tree falling on it. Take the straight (curve to the left) gravel road 4651, the other way is ripped up. Go about 2 miles down this narrow but decent road. Camp is on the road on the left hand side, just before the road begins a big climb. You can't miss it. It is just before you get to Kansas Creek.

Here is a map from another trip, ignore the red markings. 4650 is on the top left of the map:

I will be either Thurs-Sun or Fri-Mon! Happy trails.
