Making up the mind might be part of the fun, but it makes it hard for me to plan .. and harder to encourage Mary to come along.

The dates are the same, we're talking the same 10 mile radius. I just get excited with the possibilities. I have this crazy notion of group consensus.

What do you guys think of Rho Creek or Cot Creek instead? I am concerned that the Mud Camp Road would be terrible in the dark and I don't want anyone to have trouble. I was there 4/20 a few years ago, and it was pretty damn muddy, but amazingly passable. If you want an adventure drive then 4611 is the trip for you.

Don says Cot Creek Camp still has about 1' of snow but it will probably melt in a couple weeks.
Cot Creek Camp today, thanks Don:

Rho Creek is pretty nice in spite of the road. This early in the season we are still pretty limited; lots of snow up there yet. Most of my favorite camps are above 3000'.
We were last there in 2011:

Boy this thread is a hotbed.
Rho Creek it is, hope everyone is cool with that. It is quite wild around there, in spite of the roads and clearcuts. I will most likely be out there Thursday.
We have Don, me (and probably Eva), Randy, Hal for sure. Anyone else going to make this one? It's a pretty easy drive and not far from 46 Road.

As always I recommend a Clackamas R.D. map. Good to know where you're going where electronics fail.

Plan A Camp (Rho Creek):
I205 south
224 east to Estacada
Past Ripplebrook G.S.
to
FS 46 (right)
Stay on 46 for a while, keep track of where you are. The next turnoff is JUST PAST FS42.
RIGHT onto 4670
Cross the Clackamas on 4670 and take an immediate left on FS4671. Stay left at the junction.
Cross Lowe Creek. Go around a curve and the next creek crossing is Rhododendron Creek. Campspot is right before the creek, on the right. Ya can't miss it. It will be all paved roads! If you hit gravel then you're lost.

Plan B camp is behind Big Bottom:
Take a left onto 4671 (like above) but instead turn RIGHT at the junction on 4651. Follow this narrow gravel road about 3 miles. Our camp is on the right just past Kansas Creek.

I can make it out Friday for an overnight but have to head home Saturday afternoon. There ain't no way I can get Sunday off (I tried!), plus Don's holding an open shop @ 7PM on Saturday firing off the tesla coil.

So .. anyone up to take off Friday AM? I'll be solo...
