need a place to go camping

Post by natep73 » Sun Jun 24, 2012 10:11 am

ok, so the family and former exchange student are going camping this week, and looking for a location.
the forest service site isn't really very helpful, but you guys are....
the things on are list:

2-3 hours out of the dalles
bathroom(or at least an outhouse)
water (don't really want to pack everything with us, or boil and such...
stream, or river nearby (like to listen to water, and give the kids somewhere to splash)
green, with real trees, (no offence mark, but maupin is for the company, not the scenery)
not quite a hambone springs style of getting there. secluded is good, but we want to make it......
we are bringing the dogs and the baby's and the kids, so we don't want to many neighbors...

any ideas or thoughts are welcome.

thanks
Nathan

Check out Bonney Crossing Campground, right outside of Tygh Valley. It's small with an outhouse. I'm sure it's on the Forest Service list.

Little Badger might also fit your needs. Has the creek and newer pit toilet. Not sure how the crowds would be this time of year.
Chorizo, it's what's for breakfast.
