1991 Vanagon Carat with Subaru WRX 2.0L Turbo Conversion

The Gorge Runner is a well-loved Vanagon with lots of power. The owner took very good care of it but did not hang on to most of the paperwork unfortunately.

Originally purchased in Montana in 2005 by the last owner, it has been on many incredible adventures. The Subaru Turbo conversion took place in the summer of 2008.

This Vanagon is so fun to drive. It's fast and handles like a dream. It's reliable and is a fantastic daily driver and camping rig.

Since I have a history with this particular Vanagon, I've been asked by the family to place the ad.

The Good:
- Weekender Package
- 4-speed, manual
- Subaru WRX 2.0L Turbo Conversion Using Small Car Performance Parts
- Transmission Rebuilt by AAA Transaxle Including Peloquin Limited Slip Differential
- Custom Exhaust
- Cruise Control
- Power Windows
- Power Locks
- Power Side Mirrors
- Van-Cafe Oversized Tube Bumpers
- Upgraded 6" Round Headlights with Switch Relays
- 16" CLK Wheels Fitted with Nokian WRC Tires
- Powerflex Front and Rear Sway Bar Bushings
- Burgundy paint in good shape with few small dings & paint chips
- Pop-up Table
- Jump Seat
- Metal Screens for Side & Slider Windows
- Original Carat Snap-in Curtains
- Light gray fabric interior very clean and in good condition
- Back seat folds down into a comfortable queen size bed
- Headliner in good condition
- No cracks in dash or windshield
- Tinted windows
- Comes with snow chains, jumper cables & spare tire
- Registered in Washington; tags good until 2015
- Odometer on 12/7/14: 241,594

The Not-So-Bad:
- Stereo does not work
- A/C will need some attention
- Side skirts were removed when bumpers were installed
- Has small amounts of seam rust
- Passenger side door window motor does not work; manual window crank installed
- Hatch lock is a little finicky at times
- Stain on passenger side floor
- Tinting is peeling on a few windows

Motor running strong since 2008 installation
Recent work in July 2014:
- Changed timing belt
- Replaced Oil Pump
- Replaced Water Pump
- Replaced Rear Main Seal
- Ready for another 6 years!

More photos to come! I’ll have shots of the Gorge Runner clean, bumpers touched up, interior and engine.
