Buses by the Bridge 1/15 - 1/17 Anyone going?

Post by werksberg » Wed Jan 06, 2010 11:53 pm

Any IAC members on here going to Lake Havasu for the Buses by the Bridge event? 1/15 - 1/17/10

I'm going and hoping to have the first of the '68 - '73 f/g luggage racks too!

Plus I'll be busting my butt this week getting other new masters and products done for that event too!

Cool to hear some PNW people are coming down for it. I guess it is a major Bus show after all....

Take some photos of them and post them here! Man, they will be gone from home a couple of weeks for it!

I'd offer them a place to stay here in the OC near Disneyland, but the soon to be x wife is still here and the house is a mess. Her teaching assignment is over the first of Feb. and then she is leaving for Tenn. and I'll finally have the whole house to myself...after cleaning up her stuff & damage....

I will....there's hotels within walking distance (parking the my van and trailer in the dealer area and not moving it for the weekend) and the weather has been very warm for this time of the year too!

I have heard it can get cold with the breeze off the water so I'll be taking many HD clothes too.

Hey JM, I gave you a shout out last week on the clubs and events forum about going, along with Steve (regalasr correct sp) sorry Steve! about sharring space rent. $50.00 bucks is too steep for me this year for the vw parts and collectables I have. I deleted it after no response for a couple days.

Man the weather is great and I really need a road trip and would love to find the roof rack brackets I need.

Still may just motor down to check it out, always a joy to see the folks that love these things.

Have a good one and after Feb. maybe we can do a Quartsite run.

Hey Barb, thank you for the shout out on my failing idea of an online IAC Christmas party thread. Thought it might be fun to have an online party but not have to travel during the holidays....

Sounds like BBB might be really big but I never have gone to it. I'm working all weekend and week trying to get new bus parts done for it like more ABS panel uses and the '68 - '73 Westy Luggage rack with full Fiberglass bottom (I picked up the new mold yesterday and I hope my FG part maker can make 1 or a couple for the trip to show it off and sale them at BBB) and I found a source for the OEM tie down but in Stainless steel...no more rusting of them.

I'm leaving on Thursday but going out the high 40 route. I'm getting to park my Ford van in the show, and getting a Hotel walking distance away so I don't have to drive in and out everyday.

If you do go (stop by) and you need a shower...no problem in my hotel (Got to get that res. done today). I'll be next to Bustorations booth as they are wanting to carry more of my products!

On the way home on Sunday I'll be going downward and out the 10 freeway like yourself and may take a little stop at Quartsite to check it out some. But I want to stop in a casino in Palm springs on the way home too.....have not felt lucky but....need some play time!

It has not been fun around here at the home as the soon to be X is still here and is supposed to be moving to Tenn. after her teaching semester is done...but she has only now started packing up her dust collectors.....and my family heirloom items too.....long story!

She is to be move by early Feb. But...? I just hope my house is still standing when I get back from this trip and my cat is still here. I know the cat will be...and the soon to be X too.

Take care and if you do go....look me up! I'll PM you my new cell number.

Cool....it has been here in OC 70 degrees at 6 pm and out there is has been in the 60's!

I'll be next to Bustorations booth in a dirty white Ford van...I know, it's not a VW! But my bus needs lots of work before doing events with!

I will have an hotel room within walking distance so....if you (or anyother IAC member) need a quick shower or....? If I can trust ya!

O man , I so want to see your bus, Ive seen it it in the picts at Maupin and read all your post. I bet we could exchange lots of stories about places and buses we have had.

Have you done the Paniment range around Death Valley? The Dumont Dunes ? If not this time, sometime for sure, Have a great trip.

I love the Delta area around Sacramento. One of my daughters lived in that area awhile and produced concerts I would fly up to attend. Great times. She grew up in the back of splits and Ovals.

Darn I want to really be retired and travel at will. but this darn economy is getting in the way of my artistic nature---gurrrr.

Have fun and keep the camp fires burning.

Dormobile. These tops were fitted to a variety of vehicles, and they had their own interior packages for the various cars. My interior is pretty much straight Westfalia, except for what I've modifiled. In 1971, you could order either the Westy roof or the Dormobile roof from VW along with the Westy interior. For those who are interested, more info can be found at http://www.dormobile.org.uk/

As for linking up with you, I don't know what you look like, but you know what I look like (or at least what my bus looks like). Of course, I'm sure you could recognize those wonderful kick panels you sold me last year.! :-) I answer to either John LaTorre or to JLT, which is the nickname I acquired years ago when working at a hang glider factory which had more than its share of Johns, Jeans, and Johnnys.

I don't know what the camping arrangements are this year. I understand that, due to re-seeding some of the area, the camping will vary from what was done in previous years. I'm planning to be there Thursday to help the Sacramento chapter of the London Bridge Bulliis set up. But until then, I know as little as you do now.
