Next step is to adjust your valves to see if any have tightened up. Do this before the warm engine compression test. Share your test results in the bus forum where we can go over the results. Good compression, good power, good fuel mileage and little in the way of leaks, is a good sign that your VW will settle into that nice homeostasis that allows epic journeys.
