Any other ideas? It just won't be the same.

Someone mentioned Fort Stevens but that's not nearly the same. Not any easy beach access there.

Easier beach access than Stub Stewart that someone else suggested. Ft. Stevens is at least on the coast...

Cape Lookout State park has easy beach access. However electrical hook-ups are limited to RV sites.

Nehalem River? Yeah you guys need your showers etc.
There are some really nice places on the Central Coast...I know of a couple "secret" camps near Yachats too.

I can survive without electricity and a shower for a couple days. Just thinking of places similar to Nehalem. It would be nice if there was a bay near by so we can still take the boat out crabing.

The farther down the coast, the fewer Washington peeps will be showing up...

FYI.. looks like an event is already in the planning stages.

Here's the info if you're interested at Fort Stevens. I'm on the fence right now.

Yeah, I'm not sure I want to do Fort Stevens. I just spent a week there for salmon fishing and it's stupid expensive and a good ways from the beach. I paid over $200 for six nights of camping. Of course that is off season so maybe it would be cheaper. I think we should find a different spot personally. Somewhere not in a state park. I'm still annoyed about the stupid lodging tax they forced us to pay last year too. Lodging tax for camping. Puhlease.

Any overnight stay in Tillamook county will include the 11% lodging tax. 30% of the lodging tax is slated for road improvements. Since logging has been reduced they don't have as much revenue coming in so tourism is there only hope.

That's fine if they do indeed use it for the intended purpose. How much tax do we pay for road improvements around PDX? Have you driven downtown lately? My main reason for irritation is that they consider camping as lodging. You stay in a hotel/motel or rental, you bet I get the tax. Meh!

I agree wIth the points you made. Where would you like this year's event to take place? Not in Tillmook county I assume.

That's the issue, I just don't know. I've continued to become more and more disgruntled with state parks. It'd be nice if we could find a place that was a little more primitive. That would probably be just for our small contingent of the Unsuperbowl campout though. Not sure that the majority of the folks that attend this event would want that. Do we have to do it on the coast? Do we start our own annual tradition?

The State Parks are nice, but too expensive and busy. $200 for parking on asphalt is nuts...
It is nice on the Coast but we're gonna get slammed by bad weather, it's been too damn nice for too many years...it is nice though, oysters etc. in the offseason without tourists. I won't go to there in the summer if I don't have to...and the Cascades are buried in snow in Feb.
Ft. Stevens, not much wilderness around there.
Personally I'd rather camp someplace wild for free, but have enjoyed the event over the years. Now that I'm broke alla time I'd rather save the cabbage.
