I've already offered him a copilot seat there & back, one that even gives him most of Sunday back at the Beetle project .. because I've gotta be at work by 10AM on Sunday.

Maybe we can collectively shame him into it.

Replaced o-rings on carb adjust screws, tuned, makeshift table leg, icebox back in, oil draining. Packing and oil fill in the morn then looks like we're heading out.

Pretty nearly packed up now. Finishing up through the evening and taking off in the morning once we board the dogs. Going to make it to Bend by end of the day tomorrow and then out to the space Friday morning

So I'm up in Lacey, WA right now and have been helping a friend clean out his garage. He has some Vanagon and Air Cooled parts. If anyone would like to buy anything listed below, let me know and I can bring them with me to Maupin tomorrow. I'm leaving tonight around 6:30pm so catch me before then. Prices are negotiable for friends!!! :)

Oh the humanity!

made it to Bend finally. the little one had some tummy issues for the first few hours, requiring frequent stops, but we powered through the last few hours.

we def loaded up a lot more weight than last time, but oil temps and CHT's all performed perfectly the whole way (yay)

time to eat, beer and sleep. tomorrow morning we gear up and head north.

Cruised out around 6:30 this morning, hope I didn't wake anyone up. Didn't have time for breakfast at the Oasis Cafe, couldn't get gas because the station wasn't open, booked down 197 headed for The Dalles .. beautiful scenery in the morning sunshine. Saw a badger strutting across the highway near Five Mile Road with something it's mouth & momma bird pecking at it's back .. not a honey badger, still didn't care. "What? What're you gonna do, bird? I'm a badger, get f**ked." =D

Gassed in The Dalles, drove back to Portland, got home around 8:20AM, unloaded the icebox, had a shower, made it to work with time to spare. This rig just eats up the miles; ran mostly 70-75MPH (and a five mile stretch at 80) on the PDX>The Dalles run Friday and 65-70ish from there to Maupin except for a few 60MPH/3rd gear grades, and did about the same on the trip home minus the 80MPH bit because of the Gorge winds. Averaged slightly under 21MPG for the trip...

Also, thanks much for pitching in for the keg guys. It tastes great even now that it's warm. :)
