I think Bertha is actually a very mellow, very wise, very calm bus who just gets in gear and saunters down the road at exactly her pace. She suffers occasional loose shoes with aplomb, does not throw her rider in a tempestuous fit, rather, she waits for us to discover her occasional infirmities with grace and patience. Truly a classic classic beautiful old bus.

Not sure exactly where Neal is in that last picture. Northern California coast, probably between Eureka and Crescent City.

A lot of the California coastline between San Francisco and the Oregon state line looks like that.

Yes to what Hal said about No Cal coast It is really beautifull and neal looks so very kicked backed in all those photos. It is the way to go in a bus. That will be my plan for sure next year (if not sooner) to get Elwood back in Oregon. Last time with Anthony was fun.

Whew! Well we're home and once again, we had a fabulous time. Thanks to Mark for organizing a fantastic event. You really outdid yourself this year!

It was great seeing everyone this year and once again, I forgot to introduce myself to folks I've been wanting to meet. JLT, for the second year in a row, Static, Sluggo and all my other IAC friends that were there but I didn't make their acquaintance. Wayne, we missed ya. Stupid work. I really do hope they find Kyron safe.

Now for the photos.

The Riviera loaded to the gills. In spite of engine issues, this bus refuses to let me and my family down. On the last hill coming home, he reminded me that the attention I promised him before we left was a promise he intended to hold me accountable.

It was great seeing Spiffy and Copilot with Bill this year.

Fathers Day Weekend, 2011

Don't forget the local IAC NW camps. Since the October ha-ha-ha they have been little attended. S'okay more slimy trout for me!
I do actually prefer camps with less people. Intimate in a nice way. But not TOO nice.

.. but there should be camping opportunities between now & then. Nehalem Bay in January comes to mind for one.

Hambone Springs, can we still go there or has the road been closed?

Still open (that I know of) but blocked by snow. Snow! Yes! IN JULY!

Yes, the shore line was essentially the first "beach" along 101 south of the California border. There was a marvelous hint of quickly diminishing fog.

And no, no photoshopped blue skies, we just got extremely lucky. A perfect day to dawdle down through the redwoods and coast on.

Our obligations are done in Eureka for the moment, and am grocering up with supplies at the co-op before heading south for a few days of relaxed camping before heading back to Eureka Saturday for a family gathering, then heading back Sunday.


mmmm, miss my Super Dog, but still enjoying great beers at the local breweries.
