I vote for Gaggle!
I love the Redwoods. But I agree that it may be to far for some. I've never been to Crater Lake but I have freinds that used to work at the resort. They always say how wonderful it is.

If I can get the carbs sorted out (or replaced with F.I.), I'll bring the Bus. I'll be redoing the front suspension & steering (Tie Rods & assemblies, Ball Joints, Shocks, Center Pin & Bushings, Steering Damper) this week or next. Then I'll have covered and repaired/replaced everything mechanical (except the carbs) and most of the electrical. I hope to have the heat working by Thanksgiving. Or my boy might be wearing a few layers of PJs under his clothes.static wrote:But but but!
Are you taking the bus up to Santa Rosa?
Are you interested in camping the Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving on your way back?
If I have to be the IAC Campout Director, so be it!

Ooohh, that's a great campground! Stayed there this past January on the way down to BBBX. That early in the season we got the sites for $10 a person with some negotiations and had the park all to ourselves. To bad it's not closer to the border.static wrote:Friday after Thanksgiving: Arroyo Seco Campground, Los Padres Natl. Forest
West of Greenfield, East of Carmel Valley. Nice campground, level sites, hot showers, flush toilets, fishing pond.

What in the hell do you need heat for? Oh, wait, camping would be in a colder climate! In that case you resort to what us NW bus campers do....
coleman sport cat
or buy a BA6 (I have one, it was installed by the PO and works but it still scares the living shit out of me.......it keeps you WARM though....like turn your skin red and slap you in a marinade warm.)
Blankets, blankets, blankets
awning, awning, awning
even met a couple that used dollar store emergency candles melted into a chinese food delivery box that melted down and kept them warm.
But I am sadistic about camping....the more I "suffer" and have to figure out a work around the more fun I have. WOO HOO!!

I have thrown down the camping gauntlet.
Most people have that Friday off. The campground is good and will be empty. It's roughly halfway between LA and SF.
Easy to get to for many.
Now then: come camping with us or we will be sitting around the campfire talking shit about you!
We will imply that you have a GEX engine, drive a pink Jetta and always have your bus serviced at Tune-Up Masters.

Is that about ten or so hours from Portland, or more?static wrote:I have thrown down the camping gauntlet.
