'74 Dual Carb
Ben and I are trying to replace the line that delivers fuel from the fuel pump to the T fitting from which the carbs are fed.
It passes up beside the starter and through a tight-fitting grommet in the firewall. I'm worried that, once I withdraw the old line, feeding the new one through the grommet will be difficult. It's very inaccessible, even with Ben's tiny hands.
I contemplated attaching the new line to the old one and using the old line to pull the new one through, but that grommet hole is very tight and I can see the lines separating at that point.
What's the easy way to do this?

Done.
We used a two-inch piece of beheaded deck screw to thread the two bits of hose together and, with Ben pushing from below and me pulling (gently! ) from above, we snaked it through.
Buses are easier to fix than Sprinters! Cheaper, too.
