Fuel line issues
I hadtraced down a fuel leak in the engine at the cold start injector. At least I believe that is the name of the injector in the middle of my 76 bus. It was actually spraying gas up in the air. When I pulled off the hose to replace today, it turned out that the male fitting is cracked. I was doing a little searching around for a new part, but don't even know what to call it. It has two bolts that bolt into the engine. Any help on this issue would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Thank you,

Re: Fuel line issues
OK, I will reply to my own question. I see that it is the cold start valve. It also seems that it may be hard to get hold of. Any ideas out there on how to fix this issue?
Thanks,

Re: Fuel line issues (cold start valve)
Thank you for the link. I checked it out and it might be for an earlier bus, but hopeful that there might be one out there somewhere. I had heard rumors of by “bypassing” the cold start valve. Is this a possibility? I am mainly worried that this could be the end of my bus if I can’t find the part anywhere. We have had it for 30 years.

This thread may be of interest to you.....all 16 pages.

Also, the one Don linked won't work with the stock bus harness connector.

Ping Chris at Busted Bus and see if he has any spares available at the moment:

Thank you very much for the link to the 16 age thread. Very, very informative. And I’m only on page 2.

Re: Fuel line issues
Thanks to everyone for the posts. I texted Chris from BustedBus and he found a CSV for me. I am also wading through the 16 page thread on engine CSV fire which is very interesting and a little scary.

Re: Fuel line issues
I forgot I have a stash of old FI components given to me by a friend. I have a CSV that I would be happy to pay forward to you. I have no idea if it works, and one of the nipples is a little boogered as it appears someone must have removed the fuel line with diagonal cutters. But, if you want it, PM me your name and address and I'll send it your way.

Re: Fuel line issues
I'd consider hanging onto that if you still have a FI bus at home, since Hubster found one from bustedbus.vwlover77 wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 4:38 pmI forgot I have a stash of old FI components given to me by a friend. Public Service Announcement!
Don't Destroy Your Cold Start Valve!
Use the correct hose, properly and modestly clamped. When time comes to remove the hose, do NOT twist and yank and pull and cuss.
ONLY cut the hose and gently peel off the plastic nipple. Yeah, put on a new hose with some extra length and you will have a couple of trim removals before you need to replace the entire hose. No twisting violent yanks.

Re: Fuel line issues
Robbie has mentioned that the Beetle CSV would work in a pinch, and with a fuel hose T:

Re: Fuel line issues
Yes, one person on TheSamba did, VeeDubNut, and confirmed. That's not a large sample group, but it's promising. He's also @VeeDubNut on Instagram, with good documentation of his Subaru swap.
