Use baking soda to blast a carb not glass beads.

yes, just use baking soda as it won't destroy the aluminum as glass beads will damage the surfaces.

Carbs are made of cheap potmetal.
They are made with a protective surface which is important for the internal passages and for the float bowl. Once you are through the protective surface, you get a gooey yellowish sloughing off and pitting and that whitish powdery residue when it is dry. Cold tanking is good. Carb solvent and compressed air is good for your average carb cleaning.

Barryman's or GUNK makes a gallon bucket of solvent with a basket. Soak in pieces and blow out with air.
